About Departmental Academic Advising
Students new to the Department of English must see an advisor to officially declare the major. Students are also required to meet with an advisor two semesters in advance of graduation and bring a copy of the Degree Audit Report and the Undergraduate Degree Application available on the Registrar’s Office page.
The deadline for submitting your graduation application depends on the semester you wish to graduate:
Spring: November 1
Summer: March 1 (with the option to walk in the previous Spring's convocation)
Fall: June 1 (with the option to walk in the following Spring's convocation)
Advising is available by appointment Monday through Friday at various times throughout the week. To make an appointment with an English advisor, use the buttons below. If you need to have your Graduation Application signed, please plan early as appointment times fill up prior to a deadline and during registration.

Please show respect to the advisors by being on time for your appointment.
Download a map of campus for directions to LNCO. Plan for traffic on and off campus.
Please call if you cannot make it to your appointment. We are happy to reschedule.
You will need to sign a consent form if you have a spouse, friend, or parent attend your appointment. Your right to privacy is protected by Family Educational and Privacy Rights Act (FERPA).
Make a list of questions and concerns.
Bring all relevant documents (i.e. forms, transcripts, and/or a DARS) with you.
Have a copy of your future semester registration or a tentative schedule.
The English Department does not have a set schedule of courses for each semester of your program. You’re responsible for creating a schedule that works for your academic interests and graduation time line.
You are responsible for completing general education and university requirements and seeking help from University College advisors regarding these requirements.
You are responsible for reviewing your DARS every semester, registering for courses, applying for financial aid, and completing all forms needed for petitions and/or graduation.
